2025 Group Offerings
DBT Skills Training for Public Safety Personnel 9 Week Group (Mindfulness & Emotion Regulation) starting January 6th - limited seats!
You may have heard the phrase, "it takes a village." If you are working on recovery from the effects of trauma, it can be extremely valuable to partake in group therapy in addition to individual work with your therapist. While even a small group (expect 5-8 participants) can be intimidating, in our experience everyone always says it was worth it to push their comfort zones because the benefit of group therapy is so great. Not only are you learning valuable coping strategies, but you have the inherent wisdom and support of a community of people who share the same struggles and are working towards the same goals. The structure of the group is a 2 hour session where every week we start with a short mindfulness practice, review skills practice where we celebrate wins and troubleshoot difficulties, a short break and then learn a new skill together.
This group is ideal for those who want to work on feeling more present in their lives. Maybe you used to be an easy going person and now find you have a pretty short fuse, or have a hard time feeling good. Perhaps you have experienced loss (career related or a relationship, for example) and feel lost. Mindfulness is one of the most evidence-based interventions out there for dissociation, anxiety, mood swings and other trauma symptoms.
This upcoming group session is exclusively for first responders, military and veterans. The location of the group is in person at 45 Alderney Drive, Downtown Dartmouth - a beautiful large group room overlooking the waterfront. We are offering direct billing for the following third parties: RCMP, CAF and VAC. The cost is $165/2 hour session, with reduced fees available for those who are in need (eg: uninsured or underinsured). Please use the contact form below to register. Self-referrals are welcome!
