FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
All the Answers You Seek, In One Place
Have a question you’d like to ask? I’m committed to giving clients the best care and experience I can. There’s no such thing as a bad question when it comes to mental health. Check out the answers to the FAQs below, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any additional questions.
DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?
I am currently offering some sliding scale spots for supervisees. All client spots for sliding scale are currently full. I will make an announcement when client sliding scale rates are open again.
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
I request the first session be minimum 90 min for orientation and assessment purposes and then we can agree on subsequent session duration (typically 50-90 min). Don't worry, nothing is set in stone so we can always add or take away time for the next session booking to meet your needs.
I KNOW YOU FROM OUTSIDE - WILL YOU BE MY THERAPIST?
While I am truly honored that you would trust me to be your therapist, I have a strict no personal acquaintances, friends or family rule when it comes to my clients. These boundaries are important to keep us both safe, provide you with the best experience and for me to do my best work as a therapist. Instead I am happy to provide you with some resources and referrals to help guide you in the right direction.
Have a question that remains unanswered? Please drop me a line and I will be happy to provide assistance.

HOW DO I BECOME A CLIENT?
The process for becoming a client is simply booking a new client consult through Jane, the online booking app or e-mailing info@followingseas.ca to get set up.
NOTE: I am only accepting new clients for EMDR Therapy Intensives, DBT Skills Group (September start) and couples therapy. The waitlist for individual ongoing therapy is closed at the moment.
DO YOU ONLY WORK WITH VETERANS OR PTSD?
Nope! All are welcome to inquire about therapy, this is just a specialty of mine. For example, civilians with anxiety or other mental health related concerns are welcome to become a client!
HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?
Payment is due by the end of the session, you are welcome to pay in advance if you like. Payment can be received via e-transfer, credit card or cash (in office clients). A receipt will be provided to you to submit for insurance claims if you have benefits. The onus is on the client to check with their plan to make sure services from a REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER are covered and the limit per session. Direct billing is only available for clients apart of the following: NIHB, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Veterans Affairs Canada, or DCS.
